      Minutes for Regular Board Meeting of Oct. 9, 2018

Present: Supervisors, Tina McKeever, Bruce Martinson, Rick Anderson; Clerk Doug Schwecke; Treasurer Carla Menssen; Fire Chief Phil Bonin, Commissioner Storlie

The meeting was called to order by B. Martinson at 7:00 PM.

R. Anderson moved to approve the agenda, adding SAHS LP under Other Business. T. McKeever seconded. Motion carried.

R. Anderson moved to approve the minutes of Sept. 11, 2018 regular meeting as presented. T. McKeever seconded. Motion carried.

Treasurer’s Report: Treasurer Carla Menssen reported-Receipts for September totaled $31,535.42. Disbursements totaled $83,615.78, most of which was the paving projects. The ending checkbook balance, as of Sept. 30, 2018, was $4,053.06, and a Total Balance of $138,792.17. We have received the payment from the plow truck., so we will have enough in checking to cover expenditures for Oct. T. McKeever moved to approve the treasurer’s report. R. Anderson seconded. Motion carried.

T. McKeever moved to approve checks #4436-4458 in the amount of $16,331.46. R. Anderson seconded. Motion carried.

Lodging tax debit slip for Sept. 2018 in the amount of $6,850.51 was approved and signed.

Fire Dept: Phil reported they had a meeting last night. They worked on equipment and then were called out to an accident scene. Still working on having the brake lines on #2 pumper replaced.

Commissioner Storlie: Ginny reported that the IT department will be upgrading about 800 radios throughout Cook County. They are looking into the possibility of upgrading the Law Enforcement Center. The Commissioners will be touring Chisago County’s new Law Enforcement Center and talking with them about the process they went through. The estimated cost of last weeks storm is $250,000. There will be a joint meeting on Oct. 16 with the Commissioners, Hospital Board, Grand Marais City Council and Grand Portage Band of Ogibwe.

Road and Bridge: The plow truck sale has been finalized. Not much interest found for the sale of the grader. Sugarloaf has been graded and Mark Aldinger or Jerry Donneck will grade once more this fall. Gravel has been put along the edges of the new paving at the park and the intersection of Schroeder Tote Rd.

Cemetery: nothing

Recreation: The wheels on the dock should be looked at after it is pulled out of Dywers Lake.

Maintenance: Carla will try to install the faucets this month. We have received a guaranteed price for this coming season’s LP from Federated Co-op of $1.349/gal. This is 5 cents/gal above last year. Tina will check into if there is any advantage with combining purchases with SAHS.

Other Business: TSSSD- The required time for publication of our resolution to detach is now past. The attorney can now present it to MPCA, and we wait for word from them. Rick Anderson will be our liaison for Birch Grove Community Center. He will meet with Lutsen supervisors and report back next month. T. McKeever moved to approve renewal of the liquor license for Temperance Liquors. B. Martinson seconded. Motion carried 2-0 with R. Anderson abstaining.
