Treasurer’s Report: Treasurer Carla Menssen reported-Receipts for May totaled $350.44. Disbursements totaled $2,828.46. The ending checkbook balance, as of May 31, 2017, was $60,598.70, and a Total Balance of $205,325.91. T. Commissioner Storlie: Ginny reported that now the agendas for the Commissioner’s meetings will be posted on the County website the day following the meeting. They are holding strategic planning sessions to help guide them in decisions for the next 5 years. Bobby Deschampe was sworn in as the new District 1 Commissioner at the last meeting. She attended a meeting on poverty and child care. There are about 200 children under the age of 5 in Cook County, with 21% of them living in households below the poverty level. There is a great need for child care, especially for those under the age of 2.

Fire & Rescue: Phil reported they had a meeting last night, performed some light maintenance and trained with their protective gear. Charlie Muggley presented the new cost analysis for us to switch the Fire Relief to PERA. After discussion, it was tabled until July.

Road and Bridge: R. Anderson reported that, thanks to Bill McKeever’s work over the years, Sugarloaf Rd. is in pretty good shape. Mark Aldinger will run the grader for us again this year and will start in a couple of weeks. Discussed permitting trucks to use Sugarloaf Rd. while road restrictions are on. No action finalized. The road committee will meet June 14, at 11 AM.

Cemetery: nothing

Recreation: Someone is interested in the old tennis court fencing. We have no intention of using it and it is just lying in the weeds and rusting. T. McKeever moved to allow Kelly Schliep to take the old tennis court fencing, provided he removes all of it. R. Anderson seconded. Motion carried. The put & take library, purchased with a $300 grant from Great Place Project, is mounted and open for business.

Maintenance: Clerk mentioned the roof has not leaked lately but will have to be watched. Discussed possible locations for the Schroeder Township sign.

Other Business: T. McKeever moved to approve a temporary liquor license for SAHS, for their wine tasting fundraiser. R. Anderson seconded. Motion carried. C. Muggley reported that Tofte Township has not decided yet if they want to dissolve TSSSD or not. While dissolving would be easier than detachment for us, we will work within Tofte’s decision. All discussion on Birch Grove taskforce recommendations are tabled until after Tofte’s special meeting to be held June 28, at 6 PM. Clerk was asked to add a disclaimer to the request for support from Birch Grove Community Education, listed on our website, stating we cannot consider this request at this time. The Fire Dept. will hold a pancake breakfast fundraiser on Aug. 26. Maintenance of the Welcome Walls was discussed. No action taken.
